Short answer: Sign in to the Google account that manages your Business Profile, search for your business on Google and click Ask for reviews (on some profiles, Read reviews then Get more reviews). Copy the link, and download the QR code from the same window. Both are free with every verified profile.
You don't need to pay anyone for a Google review link or QR code. Google gives every verified Business Profile both, for free. It takes about two minutes to find them.
How do I get my Google review link?
You need to be signed in to the Google account that manages your Business Profile.
- On a computer, search for your business name on Google.
- Your Business Profile appears with owner tools at the top.
- Click Ask for reviews. On some profiles, go to Read reviews first, then Get more reviews.
- A window opens with your review link. Click Copy.
That link opens straight to the review box for your business, so customers don't have to search for you or scroll through other reviews first.
If you can't see these options, you're probably signed in with the wrong Google account, or your profile isn't verified yet.
How do I get a Google review QR code?
The same window also shows a QR code. Google's help page on creating a review link or QR code notes that the QR code can only be generated in a computer browser, not on a phone. Right-click the QR code and save the image, and you're done.
If you'd rather design your own card, paste your review link into any QR code generator. Check that it scans to the review box before you print or share it.
Where should I put my review link and QR code?
Most reviews come from the message you send after the job, so put the link in your WhatsApp, SMS or email. The QR code works well at the bottom of invoices and receipts, next to a line asking for an honest review. Add the link to your website footer or contact page too.
If customers see your van, counter or job sheet after the work is finished, the QR code can go there as well.
Why isn't my Google review QR code getting reviews?
Most businesses that print a QR code and stick it somewhere get a handful of reviews, then nothing. The code itself works, but nobody is asking.
A QR code relies on the customer noticing it, scanning it and then remembering to write something, and most people drop off somewhere along the way. What makes the difference is a personal message from your team after every job, with the link inside, sent once the customer has seen the result. One reminder a few days later catches the people who meant to and forgot.
The request also has to go out every time. That means building it into the job routine, so it doesn't depend on someone remembering.
Keep it within Google's rules while you do this. Send the same request to every customer, don't offer discounts or gifts for reviews, and don't pressure people to review on the spot. Google lists all three in its review policy.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Google review QR code free? Yes. Google provides a review link and QR code free with every verified Business Profile. You don't need a paid tool or app to get one, although some businesses pay for help designing a card or setting up the process around it.
Why can't I see the "Ask for reviews" button? You are probably signed in with a Google account that doesn't manage the profile, or the profile isn't verified yet. Sign in with the owner or manager account, search for your business name on Google, and the owner tools should appear at the top.
Can I make my own QR code from the review link? Yes. Copy the review link from your Business Profile and paste it into any QR code generator. Before you print or share it, scan it with two or three different phones to check it opens the review box and not just your profile page.
Can customers leave a review without a Google account? No. Google requires reviewers to be signed in to a Google account. Most smartphone users already have one, so this rarely stops people, but it is one more reason to keep the rest of the process as simple as possible.
